Last evening, we at Shabd were discussing books. books like Pride and Prejudice, To Kill A mocking Bird, Gone Girl, Harry Potter, Rich Dad Poor Dad, Autobiographies, even Twilight, and also authors like Haruki Murakami, Ruskin Bond, both in the format of printed books and eBooks, in bookstores, or Kindle Unlimited or pdf drives, basically all classics, books and authors, and just the discussion on the same was so soothing, and reading one of them on a lazy summer afternoon in the verandah sounds like bliss.

- Just like our body needs exercising, our mind too needs to exercise, to meditate, to read. When we read a book, our mind is activated, it tries to read and comprehend the words and the meaning of the text. It makes us ponder about things we don't know, questions our beliefs and, impacts our brain and thought processes.
- Reading gives us new knowledge and information. Not all of us can travel around the world, or go back hundreds of years and understand the facts or the stories of eras we were not a part of. Books and reading does that. They open an all new world.
- Reading enhances our vocabulary. Reading helps us learn new words, phrases and make our comprehension power strong.
- Reading reduce stress. All of us lead a very stressful life these days, and we need to escape our realities every once in a while and get engrossed into a new world of the book. Book reading can reduce our level by a margin.
- Reading makes us smart. Ever thought how cool would you look when you'll tell your pals about the new satellite in pipeline, that too in sharp intelligent words? All the information, stories, words will make you a smarter person.
- Reading enhances your emotional power. The more you read, the more stories you live, the more characters you connect with, the more emotionally strong you'll find yourself as you'll be having a vast experience of understanding different kind of situations and people of different mindsets.
